Ingredients
Ice cream filling
- 2 cup unsweetened whipping cream
- 2/3 cup condensed milk
- 1/4 cup nutella
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
Chocolate shell
- 1 cup dark chocolate
- 1/2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/4 cup roasted hazelnuts, finely chopped
More
- 6 wafer cones
- 6 tbsp nutella, 1 tbsp each cone
Instructions:
- Optional but recommended: Wrap the outside of each wafer cone with parchment paper and secure it with tape. This helps prevent any leaks and also lets you overfill the cones for a taller ice cream (giving it a cornetto look). Add nutella to the bottom of each cone.
- In a large bowl, whip the cold whipping cream to soft peaks.
- Add condensed milk, nutella (or any chocolate hazelnut spread), cocoa powder, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Gently fold everything together until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
- Scoop or pipe the ice cream mixture into the cones. If using parchment paper, you can fill the cones above the rim, if not, fill them just to the top. Freeze for atleast 6 hours or so till nthe ice cream is set (overnight is recommended).
- To make the chocolate shell, mix chocolate and coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 45 second intervals, stirring well between each interval till smooth and fully melted. Mix chopped roasted hazelnuts into the melted chocolate until evenly combined.
- Remove the parchment paper from the frozen cones and dip each cone upside down into the chocolate mixture, coating the ice cream. Let the excess chocolate drip off to create a thin, crisp shell.
- Sprinkle with flaky salt. The chocolate will begin setting almost immediately from the cold ice cream but place the cones back in the freezer for 15 minutes to fully firm up before serving, enjoyy!
